In tonight’s episode of “The Bachelorette,” the guys who didn’t initiate serious smooching got the boot. It’s the week before hometown dates, so why would you introduce your parents to someone you haven’t made out with?

So began our heroine Emily Maynard’s journey to pick her final four guys during three one-on-one dates and a miserable group date in the romantic Czech Republic.

Arie, the race car driver from Scottsdale, Ariz., got the first one-on-one. But drama loomed for the first time when Emily found out that Arie dated producer Cassie Lambert for about five minutes more than a decade ago. She just wanted Arie to tell her even though she already knew but she wanted him to know that she knew without having to say anything. How dare he!

Anyway, the three of them had an honest but totally staged conversation about it and he apologized for not saying anything and then Emily and Arie made out in a Czech gondola under fireworks and he told her he loves her. He was the first. And it was pretty awesome. We’ve got our money on this blue-eyed boy.

The second one-on-one date was with John, the data destruction specialist from St. Louis. One word: Blah. They walked the streets of Prague then had dinner in a cold dungeon while he explained his “hard exterior.” Surprise — he was dumped once. But she knew she wasn’t going to pick him because there wasn’t even a hint of steam between them.

When Jon got back from his date, Sean, the hunky blond insurance agent from Dallas, was so overcome with jealousy that he hit the pavement — make that the cobblestones– searching for Emily. While you may think this sounds maniacal, it was actually kind of romantic when he found her, pinned her to a wall, and kissed her. That was after they stole into a deserted bar and made out there. Emily said she liked Sean’s confidence to seek her out after she was just on a date with his roommate. It was sort of hot in a creepy way.

As group dates go, this episode’s was pretty tough. Sean, all-smiles from the night before, along with Chris, the corporate sales director from Illinois, and Seattle single dad Doug, rode a horse and carriage with Emily up to a 13th-century castle outside of Prague. Doug blew his alone time with Emily when he sat with his arms crossed instead of around her. She gave him the boot.

“I did not see that one coming today,” he said, whimpering before tears streamed down his face. “I think my girl radar is totally broken.” We agree, dude. Emily gave the rose of the night to Sean much to the chagrin of Chris who was just angry that he hadn’t gotten a one-on-one since the first week in Charlotte, N.C. He pouted.

The final one-on-one date was a bit surreal. Emily and Jef with one F, the boyish entrepreneur from Utah, spent the majority of their date in a marionette shop. Then, they took their just-purchased marionettes to a historic library they somehow stumbled upon. Next, they acted out their courtship using the marionettes.

It was actually pretty cute until Jef with on F used it as an opportunity to tell Emily he loves her. Bad move, dude. Next thing you know they’re making out on a blanket and he’s talking about marriage and, like, Christmas and “lots of presents and stuff.” He and Ricki would definitely get along.

The night of the rose ceremony, Emily nixed the cocktail party. Chris, whose immaturity during the group date was eating him alive, snagged Emily for an apology and told her he was falling in love with her. Boom: He got the fourth rose and now he, Arie, Sean, and Jef with one F will be introducing Emily to their families next week.
