ABC sued over soaps: The producer of several soap operas sued ABC for $25 million over an alleged breach of contract, saying the network is hampering its ability to bring the shows back online.
Prospect Park, which licensed “All My Children” and “One Life to Live,” wants to relaunch the two shows online starting in late April but claims ABC is trying to cause them to fail, reported the Hollywood Reporter.
Both shows were canceled by ABC in late 2011 and early 2012.
The suit alleges that ABC failed to transfer website addresses for the shows and did not consult with Prospect Park when it did not make consultations over story lines after “One Life to Live” characters were introduced in its soap opera “General Hospital.”
In the ultimate act of bad faith, ABC killed off two ['One Life to Live']characters on loan to General Hospital by having their car forced off a cliff, the complaint reads.
It adds: In other instances, ABC damaged One Life to Live characters by, among other things, creating absurd story lines, having characters do things they would never do, and destroying critical character relationships popular with soap fans, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Adding further to the tensions, the suit alleges also that one ABC executive “has openly declared his desire to see Prospect fail,” according to The Huffington Post.
An ABC spokesman told Variety magazine that the company has not “seen the complaint or been served so we can’t comment.”

Demi Lovato dropped her “Heart Attack” video earlier this week, and director Chris Applebaum recently told MTV News that it captures her “duality.”
And, he says, it also shows the candor she has with her fans, namedropping a ’90s superstar and one of the greatest rock icons in history in the process.
“Demi is a very special, very unique artist for which there really isn’t anybody that can compare. I think that it’s very hard these days, in the era of the Internet and social media, for a person to hide too much who they are.
